L'Oréal Hydrafresh Mask-In Water Gel

I recently tried out L'Oréal's new skincare series, the Hydrafresh series. I got attracted by the pretty metallic pink packaging. Yes, I'm weak against pretty things but they're really pretty! Pretty pacakaging makes me very happy when I'm using the products. Makes me feel pretty too! (I know it's very lame but I really feel prettier...)

What makes Hydrafresh so different from other hydration products in the market its key ingredient - French Grape Seed Polyphenols! The French Grape Polyphenols are really amazing because this single ingredient is packed with so many benefits!

Looking at this picture makes me hungry...

1. 50X Anti-Oxidant Power
Grape seed contains a highly efficient set of bioflavonoid complexes with anti-oxidant power 50X that of Vitamin E and 20X of Vitamin C.We all know that berries and grapes have very high anti-oxidants so eat more berries and grapes!

2. Fights Aging
The oil in grape seed replenishes nutrients lost with age and optimizes moisture levels for healthy cells, tightening skin tissues and preventing the formation of wrinkles.

3. Neutralizes Radiation
Grape seed extract effectively reduces skin damage by minimizing oxidation because its crazy levels of anti-oxidants!

4. Defends Against UV Rays
Grape seed extract forms a natural shield against UV rays, that is gentle and does not clog pores. But still must apply sunscreen ok...

5. Reduces Skin Sensitivity
Grape seed extract contains numerous minerals and vitamins that nourish your skin, strengthening skin's natural immunity, hence reducing skin sensitivity.

6. Stimulates Collagen Production
Grape seed extract complements the production of collagen to improve skin's elasticity and luster, for soft, smooth and supple complexion.

French Vosges Mountains is so beautiful...

The other key ingredients of the Hydrafresh series are Double Hydrauronic Acid and French Vosges Spa Water. I am sure everyone is familiar with hyaluronic acid. It is like the basic form of hydration for our skin cells, it makes our cells very happy (in fact, all of the cells in our body). French Vosges Spa Water sounds very chim, but actually it is just water taken from this mountain in France that contains 16 minerals. These minerals help to strengthen skin's moisture barrier.

Hydrafresh Mask-In Water Gel

According to the product description, the Hydrafresh Mask-In Water Gel is a moisturizer that gives you the hydrating power of a mask. It is light enough to use on a daily basis and does not need to be washed off since it is a moisturizer. So I decided to test out to see if it really works like a mask.

This is me right after I wash my face. The hydration level of my skin is 17.5% (I know right... super low... I have very dry skin).

The Hydrafresh Mask-In Water Gel put to the test!

Applying a thin layer evenly over my face. My dark circles really very jialat...

Testing my skin's hydration levels again.

I don't know what to say, but it's simply amazing! 17.5% to 52.6%! That's... wait, let me calculate... 35.1% INCREASE! And in just 1 MINUTE!

Next, I decided to use a normal mask instead of the Hydrafresh Mask-In Water Gel. (This second test was done 3 days later)

Taken after I just washed my face. My hydration level went up from 17.5% to 40% after just using the product for a few days.

Mask on for 15 minutes~

Hydration level went up to 47% after the 15 minutes mask. That is an increase of 7.1%, not a very large jump. The final hydration level is also lower than the Hydrafresh Mask-in Water Gel.

I am now a fan of the Hydrafresh Mask-In Water Gel. It gives me a higher level of hydration within a shorter time span. I am also using the other products in the series after my face wash to give me maximum hydration, Hydrafresh Hydrating Softening Spa Water and Hydrafresh Hydration + Antiox Active Mask-in Lotion.

All products in this range have watery gel like texture that is very light and glides easily onto your skin. I would recommend people with dry skin to try out this series, my skin feels instantly hydrated and refreshed after applying. I have very sensitive skin (eczema) and I didn't get any outbreaks after using for a week, so should be quite safe. But everyone is sensitive to different ingredients so as with all new products, do apply a little on your hand first before going all out.
